Central Penn College is leading by example when it comes to the response of Combating Hunger. Our Philanthropy Task Force is currently identifying local and regional organizations in which to collaborate with to support the cause together.
Combat Hunger
Food insecurity has been a long-standing battle for our Central PA region and nation at large. In 2018, Central Penn College instituted a College Pantry on campus. VP of Student Services Romeo Azondekon shared that “The College Pantry is being instituted to combat instances of food insecurity across student populations. Nationally, food insecurity has become a prevalent concern for post-secondary institutions. Affordability of post-secondary education has become a major concern. With increasing tuition costs, decrease in state and federal funding affordability of post-secondary education while meeting basic needs has become a challenge for student constituents. Basic subsistence is often infringed due to financial obligations for students to persist towards degree attainment.
Meeting the Needs of our Region
Understanding that this food insecurity battle takes place far beyond our campus, Central Penn College has joined the fight this year to Combat Hunger across our Central PA region.
Central Penn College is raising resources and volunteering efforts for a variety of organizations that can further support those impacted by this life essential need. Take a look at some of the ways you can join the Central Penn Knights in Combating Hunger.
